Uriel Orlow, Forest Times at Musée Cantonal des Beaux-Arts Lausanne, Switzerland, to
We are excited to share news of our latest collaboration with Uriel Orlow, whose upcoming exhibition Forest Futurism at MCBA Lausanne’s Espace Projet will unveil a captivating series of works exploring fossilized trees and the extended time of climate change. This exhibition continues Orlow’s nearly decade-long investigation into the complex relationships between plants and the histories they reveal, from colonial legacies to contemporary ecological crises.
Developed in Bolzano, Italy, and South Tyrol, Orlow’s new work combines film, photography, drawing, and sound to explore how deep time and the natural world intersect. Through collaborations with palaeobotanists, climatologists, and children from a forest kindergarten, the project reimagines our ties to the more-than-human world and imagines new forms of coexistence.
This publication Forest Times marks another exciting addition to our growing collection of forest-thinking works, echoing other K. Verlag projects that critically engage with the entangled histories of forests, ecology, and society. We’re particularly thrilled to connect this project to our Publishing Ecologies Bundle—a curated discount selection that foregrounds the complex, often unseen dynamics shaping our planet’s ecologies and epistemologies.
Uriel Orlow’s installations combine film, photography, drawing, and sound to bring hidden narratives to light, making visible the complex connections between specific locations, historical traces, and ecological phenomena. Orlow’s works have been presented at renowned international venues, including the Venice Biennale, Manifesta, and Sharjah Biennale, and he has been honored with numerous prestigious awards, such as the Grand Prix suisse d’art / Prix Meret Oppenheim 2023.
Join us in celebrating this extraordinary project at MCBA Lausanne, and stay tuned for updates on the accompanying publication. The exhibition opens soon, and we look forward to sharing this journey into deep time with you.
